Saving Lives During the 2018 Mega Blood Drive
To fulfill an annual blood drive campaign to save lives, volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God in North Carolina participated in the 2018 Mega Blood Drive for the Passover. As each pint of blood saves one life, they were able to save many lives, while spreading awareness about the New Covenant Passover, which is coming up at the end of the month. Along the East Coast, 12 Church of God locations hosted blood drives in their local areas, including the churches in Charlotte and Durham who also joined in on the efforts.
Statistically, blood donations slow down during the warmer months of the year while the need for donors increases. Recognizing this great need for blood, many volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God rolled up their sleeves and unified together to save lives. The Community Blood Center collected the blood to be used for medical distribution. The volunteers prepared weeks in advance for the event, inviting co-workers, neighbors, family and friends to contribute to the cause by donating their blood.
“We all do many different types of work to make a living, but the greatest work anyone can do is to save someone’s life,” said one of the blood donors.
Another volunteer added, “Some people are not able to appreciate life because it comes to a sudden end, but we want to do our part in helping give people another chance for a meaningful life!”
In wrapping up the event, the donors in Charlotte gave enough blood to save more than 75 lives.
